Yonah Mountain GPX Track

I need to offset my substantial website costs somehow! You can download a hike/drive GPX to assist you here. Before sharing my GPX tracks with others, please remember my site is otherwise a free resource.

Yonah Mountain is a popular hike with some great views and a heavily traveled trail. It's a photogenic mountain from the surrounding area too due to some beautiful cliffs on its west face, making it also popular for climbing.

From the trailhead, the well-beaten trail starts off at a low grade, making its way to a small meadow with a lookout. From here, a steep and eroded dirt road serves as the trail, eventually leading to the remains of what I think is an old military training ground of sorts. A dirt road forks (keep left) and continues from the military buildings and up toward the summit of Yonah Mountain, but it's a bit confusing to follow a route. At least a couple of trails lead away from the road, and I recommend following my route if possible. It parallels the top of the Yonah Mountain cliff, offering nice views the whole way. Other routes would likely just lead up to the summit without the views, and you'd be missing out to not enjoy them. After the last major view looking south, a social trail leads to the summit meadow of Yonah Mountain.

The trail opens into a meadow with a view point. There are a bunch of eroded social trail here - keep to the right and enter back into the trees before passing through the meadow to stay on the official trail.

The road continues up to Yonah Mountain. I followed the road for a few windy switchbacks and left it in search for a social trail that would lead along the cliff's rim.
