Starting up my chosen canyon.
Gorgeous conglomerate formations on either side.
Class 3 dryfalls.
A gorgeous hairpin turn in the canyon.
The honeycomb-looking cliffy rim seen above. My ascent canyon choice was very cool.
View back through the ascent canyon.
An interesting Class 2+ slab feature.
View back down the Class 2+ slab.
The terrain began to steepen.
View back a bit below the rim.
Approaching the honeycomb-looking face.
A Class 3 weakness. It was less exposed than it looks in this photo.
On the rim, view toward Split Mountain West (left of center). You can wrap left around its little summit cliff band, but I kept right.
Class 2+ weakness on Split Mountain West's summit.
Split Mountain West, view down into a wide canyon to its north. I suspect this is another approach route option?
My chosen descent canyon, located just north of my ascent. There was some light Class 3 in the narrower section seen center.
Pretty portions within my descent canyon, but two dryfalls needed to be avoided. I liked my descent significantly less than the ascent.
