Seven Warriors South via Transept Trail GPX Track

The Seven Warriors feature is a mountain near the Village of Oak Creek, called as such by the locals. It took some research to find the name. This hike heads to the taller, southern end of Seven Warriors. We did the northern summit of Seven Warriors earlier, but the ridgeline separating the two peaks prevented easy access, cliffs blocking the way. Instead, Matt and I decided to try to get to this peak from the west, where we were very surprised that there was a trail basically the entire way to the summit.

We parked at a small turn-off and headed up the newly-created (based on research) Transept Trail. We didn't know this trail existed initially, so it was a great find that would allow us traverse the desert without bushwhacking. This trail is nice, slowly meandering up a wide sloping ridge before wrapping around a big butte on its left. The trail then continued through some forest and began to head north. We left the trail at this point on a social trail on the right and followed it northeast as it gained elevation toward a weakness in the cliff band above. Class 2 brought us up this cliff band and along the edge of a very pretty rim. The trail was a little hard to follow at times on the way up, but was very clear on the way back. The trail led up to the north ridge, where we then headed south to the summit. There was one more Class 2 section along the summit ridge, and the views were fantastic.
