Trip report

Feb 14, 2018 — Park just outside the group reservation only Boulder Picnic Area and cross the small field to find trail next to a building. This trail splits off, left goes to the Narrows (West Cache Creek), right goes across the creek and to the base of Eagle Mountain, also known as Boulder Mountain. The Narrows is a really pretty and unexpected treat, and is apparently the best rock climbing crag in Oklahoma, and honestly the cliffs do look pretty awesome. After exploring the Narrows, head back to the trail junction and route-find up Class 2 boulders to the summit of Eagle Mountain for some nice views.

  1. The trail splits, left goes to Narrows Trail, right goes to West Cache Creek crossing to access Eagle/Boulder Mountain. I went left first.
  2. The Narrows Trail takes you up to the top of the bluff, overlooking Eagle Mountain.
  3. Cross West Cache Creek and locate the Narrows Trail on the opposite side.
  4. Follow the trail up the side of West Cache Creek for a bit.
  6. The Narrows Trail gets to a high point where you overlook the greater section of the Narrows.
  7. The Narrows Trail brings you back down to enter.
  8. Trail sort of disappears, but head deeper into the Narrows.
  11. Looking back up the Narrows from where it becomes less narrow.
  12. Back at the junction, headed on the right fork toward Eagle Mountain.
  13. Cross West Cache Creek, Eagle Mountain up there.
  14. Looking back from the start of the scramble.

  17. Looking back toward the summit of Eagle Mountain. It's not a long scramble, but there are some fun obstacles and there are limitless options to get up, some harder than others.
