High Peak GPX Track

I need to offset my substantial website costs somehow! You can download a hike/drive GPX to assist you here. Before sharing my GPX tracks with others, please remember my site is otherwise a free resource.

I've driven past High Peak a bunch of times on my way to Death Valley, but never really gave it much thought. It's kind of a bland blob just off the road, but the views were nice from the summit and it was pleasant enough to get some exercise. We parked off Bell Vista Road on the shoulder and headed generally southwest to enter a wash at the northern base of High Peak, our intent being we'd follow the wash until we wanted to start along the ridge on our left, which had a few unnecessary bumps along its northern reaches. The wash was pleasant and sandy. We left it once the ridge seemed to stop having a bunch of little annoying nubbins and ascended to a minor saddle. From here, the ridge continued steeply south, with nothing harder than easy Class 2. We reached a false summit, noting High Peak poking up to the southeast. The ridgeline from the false summit to High Peak was pretty gradual and not too rocky. The views along the ridge were pretty, the larger desert peaks like Nopah visible to the south and Charleston Peak to the north. The last hundred feet to the summit included an unexpected Class 2 almost-knife-edge.
