Delamar Mountain via Pacific Crest Trail GPX Track

I need to offset my substantial website costs somehow! You can download a hike/drive GPX to assist you here. Before sharing my GPX tracks with others, please remember my site is otherwise a free resource.

Delamar Mountain is a forested peak on the north shore of Big Bear Lake. You could drive to nearly the summit on its north side, but Amanda and I approached via the Pacific Crest Trail off Polique Canyon Road. This hike requires very little vertical gain as it skirts the ridge along the PCT, swarmed by thru-hikers on our visit. Mostly a forested walk, there are occasional views down to Big Bear Lake while the trail stays on the south side of the ridge. It later crosses to the north side and there are different hilly views to the northern landscape.

Once we reached the northern slope of Delamar Mountain along the PCT, we noted a nondescript spur trail leading away from the Pacific Crest Trail and climbing steeply to the summit. It begins as old doubletrack, but quickly narrows into an eroded singletrack slog. The ascent trail was very different from the pleasant trail walk that composed most of the hike. Delamar Mountain's high point has some summit boulders which offer minimal views of the surrounding area.
