City Creek Peak via Skyline Trail GPX Track

I need to offset my substantial website costs somehow! You can download a hike/drive GPX to assist you here. Before sharing my GPX tracks with others, please remember my site is otherwise a free resource.

City Creek Peak is a lesser summit in the Tushar Mountains, but has some nice views of the surrounding area.  The peak is best accessed from the Skyline National Recreation Trail, although this trail doesn't actually lead to the summit. Any car can make it to the trailhead, though the last half mile is more rocky than the otherwise fully graded approach. I set out along the Skyline NRT, clearly regularly maintained, as it wound up relatively flat terrain to gain the south ridge of City Creek Peak. As I cotninued north along the ridge I could see sporadic glimpses of City Creek Peak ahead through the trees, but it was initially just an enjoyable forested hike.

I continued north until a sign marked the junction of the Big Flat Trail and the City Creek Trail. I ignored them both since neither goes to the summit, and instead ascended the ridge that split the two trails, following pretty tundra. The ridge led continued to the summit of City Creek Peak, where I enjoyed excellent views of the more famous Tushar Mountains to the north.

FYI, the lighting was better in the forested portion during my second time doing this hike, but I loved the morning light for the asent to the summit on my first round, hence the lighting change halfway through.
