Cedar Sink Trail GPX Track

I need to offset my substantial website costs somehow! You can download a hike/drive GPX to assist you here. Before sharing my GPX tracks with others, please remember my site is otherwise a free resource.

The whole area Mammoth Cave National Park encompasses is a series of "sinks", where water exits the caves for a bit and funnels nutrients back into the cave. The sinks within the park are fascinating, where you can see the water coming from holes in the ground and then disappearing back into massive walls. Cedar Sink is one of many, and a lush walk through the woods gives a nice display of the sandstone cliffs and "sinks".

400+ miles of explored underground tunnels leads to the nearby Green River. Mammoth Cave is the longest known cave system in the world, though unfortunately, no entry is allowed in any of the caves unless with a tour. Although I checked out one of the guided tours (I recommend you do as well), I wanted to get a little hike in above-ground, and the Cedar Sink Trail fit the bill. I included some photos of the Domes and Dripstones guided hike at the end of my trip report.

A few shots from the Domes and Dripstones guided tour. I just wanted to include some photos of the cave tour. The features within are pretty cool.
