Boltergeist Canyon GPX Track

I need to offset my substantial website costs somehow! You can download a hike/drive GPX to assist you here. Before sharing my GPX tracks with others, please remember my site is otherwise a free resource.

This is a technical canyon. If you are unfamiliar with how to build anchors or the gear required for canyoneering do not attempt this route.

From the trailhead, which can be reached by any vehicle, though sedans might struggle, we found the head of Boltergeist Canyon by dropping south into the drainage and scrambled down a few easy Class 2 obstacles. From the top of the first rappel you can see the entirety of Boltergeist Canyon to come. The second rappel drops down a tight chimney and can be down-climbed instead of rappelled. Another short rappel led to the end of the narrows and down to a great view at final dropoff that looks higher than it is. After the last rappel, we continued north up a lush canyon with an obvious trail. A Class 2 scramble leads up the west side of this canyon to the rim. It's a short walk back to the car from here. This is a short canyon, so you might want to include nearby Yankee Doodle Hollow into the day.
